About Stacy

Curator's notes
  • Near-black brown hair worn long; sharp brown eyes
  • Slim, and tall at 176 cm
  • Twenty-two, bold and spontaneous
  • Street photography, snowboarding, stand-up comedy
  • Lives in Chelsea

Stacy stands 176 cm, which in most Chelsea pubs makes her the tallest person present, and she has decided to enjoy it. She holds herself straight, laughs loudly and makes eye contact with the whole room, which is part of why people remember her after a single evening. Under the noise she is observant and kind, and quick to notice a guest who would rather listen.

She is twenty-two and slim, her near-black brown hair falling long past her shoulders, her brown eyes missing very little. Stacy lives in Chelsea. She dresses for nightlife with an edge: a metallic top or something sharply cut, boots when the weather allows, and a camera strap across her shoulder more often than not.

Street photography is how she sees London. She shoots the King's Road after dark, taxi lights, faces reflected in shop windows, and she will show you her favourite frame of the week if you ask. In winter she chases snow and spends every spare week on a snowboard. Stand-up comedy is the third love; she goes to open mic nights for the terrible acts as much as the good ones, and her impression of a heckler is merciless. Bold and spontaneous, she speaks English with fast, dry timing.

Her Chelsea evening starts at the Cadogan Arms on the King's Road, a handsome old pub with dark wood, a proper menu and a crowd worth photographing. From there she might suggest a late comedy show if one is on, or a wander through the side streets towards World's End with her camera before you head back to your hotel.

An evening with Stacy

Stacy's perfect night has no fixed plan, only a starting point. Something cold at the Cadogan Arms, a window seat, and her camera on the table in case the street outside does something interesting. She will ask what makes you laugh and then set out to prove she can do it.

If there is a comedy night anywhere reachable, she will find it and pick seats far enough back to avoid being chosen. Afterwards, a stroll past the late shops towards World's End, two or three frames of neon in a puddle, and a taxi back to your hotel. There she is relaxed, funny and surprisingly good at listening, and when she says goodnight at the agreed time she usually leaves you with one terrible joke you will repeat at breakfast.

Three questions · 03

In Stacy's words

People waiting. Outside restaurants, at bus stops, in doorways. A waiting face is always more honest than a posing one.

Snowboard, always. Skiers look elegant and I look as though I am having more fun, which I am. I also fall over with far more style.

Once, for four minutes. Two jokes landed, one died completely, and I have never felt braver in my life.
